It’s that time of year again… time to start planning the World of Wines & Beer!!! This event will be November 5, 2010 at Davians Banquet & Conference Center.
In beginning the planning and brainstorming this year, I realized that this will be our 10th annual event. With over 150 wines and over 40 beers served each year, imagine the massive quantities of alcohol our members have consumed!
On a more serious note, though, it got me thinking about the last 10 years of my life. I’ve worked for a couple different non-profits, both part-time and full-time, for a college, and at a couple different for-profit retail businesses. I’ve lived in Indiana, Mexico, and Wisconsin and moved quite a few times. I graduated college, settled myself here, and accidentally stumbled into a career path that I absolutely love. I’ve been through a lot of changes over the last 10 years!
Around here, we are excited about all the changes happening. New name, new members, new opportunities for all of our members to get involved. New committees, new baby (congrats Kelsey!), and new events (like the Manufacturing Alliance event on the 14th).
But the World of Wines & Beer isn’t new. Many of our members have attended or even been a part of the committee since we first held it at the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts in Brookfield way back in 2001. The event has evolved and grown and changed locations. We added a beer tasting for the non-“winos” out there a few years, and we even threw in a chocolate fountain for good measure!
What has happened in your life and in your business in the last 10 years? Growth and change? Innovation? Maybe a move – personally, professionally, or geographically?
PS – If you’re looking for opportunities to get involved with the 10th Annual World of Wines & Beer, contact us! We have openings for sponsors, committee members, volunteers, and drinkers…. I mean “attendees”!!
